Story and legends of Goddess Durga

There are stories and legends related to the worship of Goddess Durga, some of which are as follows:

It is believed that once there was a demon king, Mahishasura, who had already invaded the gods in heaven. He was very powerful, due to which no one could defeat him. An inner power was then created by Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh (Shiva), called Durga (a ten-handed and amazing feminine power holding special arms in all hands). He was given the inner power to destroy the demon Mahishasura. Finally, he killed the demon on the tenth day and that day is called as Dussehra or Vijayadashami.
Another legend of Durga Puja is that, according to the Ramayana, Lord Rama performed Chandi Puja to seek blessings from Goddess Durga to kill Ravana. Rama killed Ravana on the tenth day of Durga Puja, since that day it is called Vijayadashami. Therefore, Durga Puja always symbolizes the victory of good over evil.
Once Kousta (son of Devadatta) decided to give Guru Dakshina to his guru Vartantu after completing his education, however, he was asked to pay 14 crore gold currencies (one currency for every 14 sciences). . He went to King Raghuraj (ancestor of Rama) to obtain these, however, he was unable to give it due to Vishwajeet's renunciation. Therefore, Kousta went to the God of Indrajas and after this he again went to Kubera (God of Wealth) in Ayodhya for the necessary golden postures to rain on the "Shanu" and "Apati" trees. In this way, Kausta received the currencies to offer to his master. That incident is still remembered today through a tradition of plundering the leaves of the "Apati" tree. On this day people give these leaves to each other as a gold coin.

Worship ceremony

Durga Puja is very much done with true mind and devotion. This is done every time in the Shukla Paksha of the month. This festival is celebrated along with the festival of Dussehra. Therefore, schools and colleges remain closed for many days. The beginning of Navratras is considered from the day of Padda. Devotees keep fast and worship Goddess Durga for these 10 days.

Durga's idol is worshiped with great pomp every day. For this, big canopy and pandals are put up. A large number of people participate in these events. The canopy of worship is very well decorated. It is illuminated with different colors. They decorate it with great enthusiasm.

The conclusion

Durga Puja is actually done with the desire to gain power so that the evils of the world can be destroyed. Durga Puja is celebrated as the victory of good over evil. Just as Goddess Durga, by gathering the power of all the Gods and Goddesses, destroyed the evil demon Mahishasura and saved the religion, similarly we can promote humanity by conquering our evils. This is the message of Durga Puja. Goddess Durga is considered the incarnation of Shakti. Shakti-puja instills courage in people and they forget each other's mutual feelings and wish each other well.
